The bad news is that Greg has to go on a business trip for 4 days next week and will just be getting back in time to go visit my parents on Friday.
I will be alone with Riley from early Monday morning to sometime on Thursday.
The good news is that upon learning of this event, my stomach didn't feel immediately filled with lead and I didn't go into a cold sweat. I think I can handle this.
The bad news is, I'm still apprehensive about being alone all night for three nights. AND I feel guilty for thinking that way because there are obviously single parents out there who do this all night every night - Or women whose husbands are away in Iraq who do the same and here I am, nervous about four measly nights?
Wish me luck.

First, you'll be fine! Congrats BTW. I was one of those Mommies whose husband was in Iraq(twice!) w/2 kids and I did fine (at least I think I did). Truly, the hardest part is the leaving and coming home. Once you get into a routine, it's not so bad. Additionally, I learned that I could lower my expectations-you know a perfectly neat house, dressed up, spend oodles of times with the kids and work full time. As soon as I lowered expectations, everything went well. Four days may seem long, but they will fly by, I promise.
As for crocheting-I have no idea. After teaching myself, I ended up with carpel tunnel and had to wear a wrist brace for 6 months (24 hours a day). My Doctor forbid me to knit or crochet (or kick-box, but you aren't asking about that!). What a shame since I love it so much. Every once in a while I sneak in a blanket or baby sweater, but I do pay for it. Maybe do only a little a day?
For croch-ache, I'd suggest flexing your fingers regularly, maybe changing the way you hold the hook (I hold mine sort of like holding a pen), and massage your wrists from time to time.
And don't stress about being apart from the man, you'll be sooo busy with the little one (and busy getting to know him!) that the time'll fly past.
Take loads of pictures, your fella will thank you for it :)
yeah, I second the suggestion to hold the hook like a pen, it's supposed to be (I read somewhere) the more wrist friendly method. Certainly, I am an cro-addict since July/August this year and am yet to have aching hands!
As for the 4 nights - hey, if you're not accustomed to it IS a big deal. That's ok. You'll cope fine! :)
